My First Video Blog!

Pardon my some-what awkard opening and repetitive words but I wanted to
document my journey about my move from Boston to Los Angeles and
today I filmed my first post!

Enjoy!

My Fall Must Haves
Stay ahead of the trend for Fall 2013.

If you know anything about me, you know that Fall
is my favorite season. The smell of the air in the morning,
Autumn inspired Lattes, the shopping and most importantly..
New York Fashion Week. Pieces I saw walking down the
runway in the spring of last year have mirrored exactly
what you'll be seeing in stores in the next couple weeks.

I am not someone who over-indulges in trends because
I consider myself a saavy shopper with classic but
modern taste. (I find sporting non-stop designer labels a little tacky).
I like to experiment with trends usingaccessories or more affordable pieces
but indulge with timeless pieces like the perfect little black dress and
a chic leather jacket.

If you feel like you need to start on your fall shopping,
here is a list of my must haves..

Something "Berry"
Tory Burch, $475

A Flowy Blouse
VINCE, $295
Chic Little Booties
DVF, $350
A quilted Leather or Faux Leather Jacket
REISS $745
Printed Tops and Sweaters
344 Boutique, $48
Real or Faux Leather Pants
Topshop, $64

Stay tuned for more!

From Day to Night

From Day to Night
By Sarah Nearis

I like to consider myself a pretty savvy shopper. I put a lot of thought
into my purchases whether its a dress or a pair of shoes. I visualize my
closet in my head to make sure I am making a purchase that will not
only be the perfect edition to my current wardrobe, but enhance it as
well by complimenting other pieces that I already have.
If you like to or have to watch your spending, purchasing a piece
that goes with nothing you have will only cause you
to spend more money.

My most recent purchase, that I am still currently obsessed with,
is the Rebecca Dress by Diane von Furstenberg.

I saw this dress almost a week ago as I was doing a pull
and it was love at first sight. Seeing as though I am moving
to Los Angeles in 5 months, I've been trying to make
smart purchases, but since I won't have to deal with the harsh
winter this year, I told myself that if I came back a week later
and it was still there, I would get it. Obviously it was still there and
I made the purchase and I couldn't be happier.

While some people may think this is a spring/summer day dress only,
I'll show you how to take a beautiful dress like this and with the help of the right
accessories, you can go from a a midday luncheon to a night out
on the town.

What Will You Do Different?

I was walking to my class today in a tired daze wondering
if I would have time to grab a coffee at Starbucks.
I peaked my head into the one I walk by on Clarendon St. every
other morning to find the line was longer than normal, and decided
I probably shouldn't get in it or else I'd be late.
For something so small, It put a damper on my morning
and I let it get to me until I got through class just fine without it.

We would all be lying if we said little things like that
didn't get us frustrated from time to time, and it wasn't until
my walk back to my car which includes walking right thru
where the Boston Marathon Bombings took place and watching
a video about Zach Sobiech, inspired me to
change the way I think and act.

We all can read or watch something and interpret
it differently, but after watching this video about
Zach Sobiech, ( a teenage boy who lost his battle to cancer
yesterday), I'm sure many of us got the message to
live our lives to the fullest because that is exactly what
Zachary did.  He chose to film the last months of his life
and use his terminal illness as a lesson to all
of us who would someday watch his video about
how lucky we all are, and soak in every minute and make
them count.

Despite the pain, I hope they find comfort knowing that a 20+ minute
video of Zach smiling and appreciating every minute of his life
will forever change the lives of those who've watched him.

Lesson's I've learned from
Zach Sobiech

1. Don't be Afraid to Fall in love.

2. Be present and in the moment with
your family and friends. Laugh
and make memories as often as you can.

3. You can either be scared to sit
in the dark and worry about whats out
there or close your eyes and be at peace.

4. Do what you love, and follow your passion.
Believe in something bigger than yourself.

5. Smile and try to see
the good in everything.

I'm very grateful I had the opportunity to watch
Zach's video, and from that I have taken a few things
away from it. Hopefully after watching his video
and reading this blog, it'll make you
appreciate life a little more and change the way you
act when life doesn't go the way you want it to.

Dress to Impress: Springtime Edition

Dress to Impress:
Springtime Edition*

Out of all the seasons, Springtime is by far my
favorite. It is the awakening of warmer
weather, an amazing smell in the air of cut grass
and blooming flowers, and the season to bare
those legs that have been hidden all winter long.

Although I am a lover of shorts and skirts,
there is nothing like wearing a beautiful
dress to ring in the new, more beautiful weather.
The colors are brighter, patterns are bolder and
silhouettes a little more feminine and flattering.

If your still looking for a couple springtime numbers
to throw on for all kinds of occasions, here are a few
of my faves. xo

My Oscar Faves

My Oscar Faves!

Award season is one of my favorite seasons in the fashion industry.
It falls right behind NYFW and most of that reason is because
of all of the suspense. As soon we the limo's and town cars
start pulling up to the red carpet, it feels like I am about to
open a huge present on Christmas. I can't wait to see what
is going to be revealed and in award season sense, to see
who is wearing what. To be honest, all of the award shows
leading up to the Oscars did not leave a good impression on
me. While everyone looked beautiful, I didn't feel like anyone
had that perfect cinderella moment. However when it came to
this years Oscar's I felt like a couple of the girls and their
stylists hit it out of the ballpark.

Here are my Top Four Favorites!
It is my own personal opinion that beautiful
Naomi Watts goes underneath the radar sometimes
and is not recognized for how beautiful she really
dresses. She shimmered in this floor length
Armani Prive structured gown and balanced
out the structure and fit of the dress with a
messy up-do. Love, love, love!
Jessica Chastain has hit the nail on the head on
almost every red carpet not to menschen this one.
It is no surprise she landed on this list because she
looked absolutely flawless. For such a serious
and intense movie she played the lead role in
it's a beautiful foil to see her all glamorous. No
one does a sparkly number like Armani.
One of my absolute favorites this year was Amy
Adams who dazzled in a custom made
Oscar de la Renta. With those words alone, there
is no way you can go wrong. The big ball gown
began with a vintage photo and ended up in this
masterpiece.

I thought Jennifer Garner looked absolutely stunning at
this years Oscars. Her look was elegant and classic, but the
color gave it a pop of trendiness and life. Her Gucci Dress and
Vintage Neil Lane Necklace was the perfect accessory
and not over the top to steal the shine from "Best Picture"
winner husband, Ben Affleck.

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Day Deux
 Fashion

Don't worry I won't be writing a blog every single day
of fashion week telling you what my favorite looks are,
but it just happens to be that I am sitting at home solo
during a blizzard and the only thing someone decent on
TV right now is The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Between running up and down the stairs 10 times to convince
myself I was participating in cardio activity, I spent a good chunk
of the day watching Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Live which is
ah-mazing since I can't be there this season. I am so in love
with some of the looks I saw coming down the runway and at
still presentations that I thought I would share a few
of my favorites.

Kate Spade New York
The collection always looks so effortlessly
Upper East-side chic meets rock and roll edge.
Kudo's to Brad Goreski for styling this collection!

Another Kate Spade New York
I just love a beautiful bow!

Pleather of Leather at
Sally LaPointe

Taking the Plunge in
Rebecca Minkoff
Loving this oversize fur coat from
Jason Wu. Everyone could have used
a coast like this today...
Jason Wu

I hope that all of you stuck in
Nemo are safe and warm!

My Fashion Week
Must Haves

There are only a couple times a year when I travel and
pack 10x more than what I actually need. Fashion Week is
not one of them. Why you might ask? Despite running around
the city amongst some of the worlds most fabulous and
fashionable people, packing for NYFW requires a lot
of planning and strategizing.

For those of you who have traveled and stayed
in a NYC hotel room you know that the rooms regardless
of where you stay(unless you can afford a $4k a night penthouse)
are relatively small, and when I say small, I mean small.
. Walk in closet? Lots of Drawers?
Absolutely not.

A little Crop of Leather

Bailey 44, Neiman Marcus
Throw a leather crop over a cocktail dress for an
edgy look or throw over dark skinny's and your good to go.

A Hint of Sequin
Badgley Mischka, Rent the Runway
Whether your going to an after party for
Marc Jacobs or dining at Tao with the girls, you
always need that sparkly little dress to set the mood.

Favorite Skinny's

3.1 Phillip Lim Trousers, Nordstrom
A pair of skinny black pants is key for fashion week.
Between all of the events and shows, it is a staple to have them
whether one night your pairing them with a silk blouse and fur fest
or a sexy feminine blouse with an excessive amount of jewelry.

Go-To Pumps

YSL Pumps, Neiman Marcus
If you've ever been to NYFW before,
you know that there can be lots of walking and
standing depending on the show. Whether your walking
from show to show or grabbing a bite to eat, you want
to make sure that the shoes on your feet are comfy and
broken in. I also suggest bringing your favorite pair of
pumps in a few different colors: black, nude and something
fun whether its silver, gold or a fun pattern. If you have
room, sneak a chic pair of black ballet flats to keep with you
just incase...

The Jewels

CA&LOU, Saks Fifth Avenue
Whether you want one piece or
pile on 5 something I never skimp on
bringing is lots of jewelry. Accessorizing
is the perfect way to pull together and bringing
it from 0 to 100 by adding chunky bracelets, huge
cocktail rings or wearing a eye
catching statement necklace.

Pull The Clutch

From show to show, the last thing you
want to be lugging around is a 25 lb. purse,
which is where having a handful of clutches
come in handy. Even though they may not be
that big, the right clutch can make a huge
statement and pull an outfit all together.
Make sure you bring a couple options,
some for dinner, shows, lunch and
after parties. You can never have enough
options!
Alexander McQueen

Bottega Veneta

Dolce & Gabbana

Have a good day and
maybe I'll see some of you at
NYFW?

xoxo
