StyleFile: What's Inside My Beach Bag

StyleFile:
What's Inside My Beach Bag

Remember the days where the only problem about going to
the beach was finding a ride? I vividly remember
the calls back and fourth with my girlfriends in the mornings of
summer as we scrambled to find an adult to give us a ride...
A parent, older friend or that one person in your group of friends
who got their license before everyone else even though they weren't
suppose to drive anyone but family for 6 months.. Those were the days..

As I've gotten older I've for sure seen my beach bag change..
At first all you needed was a towel and you'd be happy (sunblock? No
Thanks Mom I want to be tan when I go back to school in September!!)
Now I have a handful of items I will never go to the beach or pool without.
From a chic beach towel, the perfect sunnies, healthy snacks and skincare
products, these are my go-to items that you'll find snuggled inside my
beach bag..

A.  Natori Beach Towel $35 - You always need a cute towel but
nothing too busy.  If yours still has a dolphin or Elvis on it, I say it's
time to go shopping.

finding the perfect beach bag I like to choose something neutral and
on the larger side. You can take this to the beach and afterwards to lunch,
and the quality is great so you won't be having to replace it next year
if you take good care of it.

C. COOLA Sunscreen $36 - It wasn't until a couple
of years ago I really started paying close attention to sunscreen
and how important its use is. All brands definitely aren't the same
and finding the best one for you will make you want to wear it more.
I was introduced to this brand, COOLA, 3 months ago and fell in love.
It smells amazing, is organic and alcohol free and is even
antioxidant infused. Being in the California sun can do a toll on your skin
so I always make sure I lather this stuff on when I'm going for a jog,
out and about or just driving around.

D. KIND BAR $1.99 - It wouldn't be my blog if I didn't mention
food in one capacity or another. Laying in the sun can definitely be draining
so making sure you have a healthy snack that you can keep in your bag is
important. My favorite snackeroo are KIND BARS because they are packed with
protein and good carbs and are so yummy! The Almond and Apricot
one is my absolute fave!

E. Bottega Veneta Sunglasses $465 - While some girls are "shoe" or "purse"
girls, my guilty splurge is sunglasses. I could never have enough and anytime
I see a pair I really love I must have them!! Over sized is definitely the way
I go but my favorite shape Is the cat-eye (a slight cat-eye with a more round
shape). Protecting your eyes from the sun is so important so investing in a
great pair of sunnies is key. Not a day goes by I don't wear my sunnies
(shine, rain, snow, you name it) so I always have enough pairs to
last me a while.

F. EOS Lip Blam $5.99  -  I never used to carry lip balm on me
(only lip gloss) until I moved to LA. The air is different out here and
it is ALWAYS sunny (not complaining) so I am always re-applying
this stuff. It's the perfect size, smells delish and easy to apply.

G. Smart Water, Liter $2.99 -  No matter what I always like to have
at least a liter of water with me when I hit the beach or pool. Staying hydrated while
your in the sun is key and it doesn't hurt that it does wonders for your skin.

H. PACIFICA Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter $15 - One of my
best girlfriends wears this all the time and it wasn't long before I got
addicted as well. Imagine the beach and sunny weather with a hint
of coconut and that's what it smells like...Heaven!

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Reflection:
My Fashion PR Internship*
Intro to Los Angeles

It feels like a couple weeks ago that I hopped on a plane with my mother and headed
west for California. It had always been my dream to come here and conquer the city
that has not only bloomed amazing careers but crumbled many dreams.

Your only human if from time to time you get discouraged with the way things are
going in your life but the difference between someone successful and someone
who is merely getting by and unhappy, is the hunger in their belly that
refuses to take no as an answer and keeps pushing to get to where
they want to be. I'll 'never forget one of my favorite
Professor's at Bay State College, Professor Federico who looked at me
in the middle of talking about careers and finances and said
"You, you in the back row. You have that fire
in your eyes, I just know you are going to do big things, I can just tell."
Whenever I have  gotten homesick or discouraged about a job interview,
I remembered him saying that and it constantly reminds me keep plugging away.
I still exchange emails with him from time to
time because I want him to know that what he taught me in his class has
stuck with me and will always stick with me in my future career.

I was blessed to have scored an awesome internship 3 days after my arrival but
finding a part time well paying job wasn't as easy. This upcoming Friday is my last
day at my 3 1/2 month internship at Preface Public Relations in Hollywood.
It was truly one of the most amazingly fun, exciting, rewarding
but stressful experiences I have ever had! I arrived just in time for
Award Season in LA so you can only imagine the hustle and bustle of the
fashion industry as I started this new job.
Preface PR is one of the many Fashion PR firms in LA but we represent a
handful of exclusive European designers and act as the laison between
stylists and celebrities. It is our job to get our clients pieces on
as many up and coming and established celebrities  as we can
so that we can build a brand recongnition, a following
and demand for our clients collections.

On any given day, especially award season, 3-10 stylists enter our showroom either
returning clothes they borrowed from us or pulling pieces from our collections to dress
their celebrity clientele for award shows, red carpet events, movie premieres and
editorial features. As an avid fashion lover, many celebrities in my eyes are these
fashion stylists themselves that we work with who dress some of Hollywood's
most elite. I have been blessed and had the pleasure of getting to work
with the stylists whose clients include Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt,
Kate Hudson, Britney Spears, The Kardashians and Giuliana Rancic,
Kristen Stewart, Eva Mendez and Jennifer Lopez.

I've only been here almost four months but I learned quite a lot and
am so excited to keep pursuing my career in fashion and enterainment.
I feel very blessed to be living a life where I have the freedom
to explore and conquor any dream I've ever wanted, and I can't
wait to share more of my adventures and experiences with you!

Thanks so all of the love and support!!!

My Favorites:
Oscar Red Carpet

Award season has always  been one of my favorite times of the year.
Like Christmas, the anticipation of waiting for the celebrities to make
their debut on the red carpet makes me so anxious and excited.
The Oscars is one of the most highly anticipated Red Carpets we watch and
therefore many opinions are flying around with Who is worst/best dressed.
Some like dresses trendier, sexier or edgy, but for my own personal
taste, I always love a dramatic, romantic and
feminine gown, I mean its the Oscars afterall.

Here are my best-dressed contenders...

Maybe I'm a little bias because in my eyes, Kate Hudson
rarely does anything wrong style wise, but she once again has my
vote for best dressed. She wore Atelier Versace which shes worn in the
past and fits her body to a T. The cut, shine, structure and cape of the dress
are just perfection. Something that I admire about Kate is she only
wears pieces she likes and that she feels comfortable in. There is an
effortless glam about her and it doesn't hurt that she's kind of Hollywood
Royalty... One of the best things about Red Carpet moments
with Kate is her killer confidence, the girl knows how to work
a good angle.

Both of these girls look so amazing in these strapless gowns and both are donning
Roberto Cavalli. I feel like it isn't often we see Cavalli on the Red Carpet
at an event like The Oscars, but I am loving both of these. He knows exactly
how to make gowns shine and accentuate a womans figure.

To think this is her first Award Season is crazy because every Red Carpet
this girl has stepped on she has blown out of the water, and
last night was no exception. Lupita looked beautiful in this
custom made Prada light blue grecian gown. With softer make-up
and a crystal headband, she deserves all of the style spotlight
she is getting.

Stay tuned for more blog posts weekly!
XOXO

A Few of My
Favorite Things

There are many things to love about my move from
Boston to Los Angeles..While I love my job and the weather
(It is literally 75* and sunny everyday),
today I explored some of my favorite shopping destinations,
and was in complete awe when I found out how
much better the selection of clothing and accessories
are here in Lala land than back in Boston.

While the weather is partly responsible for that fact,
stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales buy items for their
stores based on their clientele and I didn't see one pair of
Berkinstocks today at Barney's...Just saying.

Anywho, just from my exploration of little boutiques on
Robertson like Curve and the amazing Neiman Marcus out here,
I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite pieces and trends :)

Catherine MalandrinoStrapless Silk Jumpsuit
(Available at Saks Fifth Avenue)

I have always been a lover of jumpsuits and
rompers, but only when they are done well and not
looking like they are coming out of the "I'm Real" music
video. While they can be dressed up for a dinner, I feel as though
they look best during the day.

Alice + Olivia
Lindsay Lace Tank
(Available at Neiman Marcus)

The older I get the more I realize that despite the
saying "One must suffer to be beautiful", I would
much rather be comfortably stylish than want to
ming someone in the throat because A.) I can't drink
my normal amount of Diet Coke without looking
like I just ate a small child or B.) worried that
I'll end up walking around like a homeless person with
no shoes because my heels were killing my feet. Purchasing
comfortable basics like the Tank listed above is perfect
because it acts like a blank canvas and I can throw it on
with boyfriend jeans and heeled sandals for the day or pair it
with leather leggings, a chic blazer and pumps
at night.

3.1 Phillip Lim

Pocketed Draped Trousers                                                              (Available at Neiman Marcus)

I used to only wear skinny style pants. From denim to ponte knit pants,
I never left my comfort zone. However, I am kind of loving these draped
trousers..although I feel you should only wear a heel with them, unless its a
really chic and dressy flat.
Elisabeth and JamesLily Erwan Jacket
(Available at Nordstrom)

I saw this today at the completely
renovated Nordstrom at The Grove which is
amazing.. and fell in love with it instantly.
The smell of the leather, the seams and the
print is perfection. If it wasn't $1300 I would
probably already be wearing it to bed already.

Hope you enjoyed!
Stay tuned for my Oscars Red Carpet Post!
XOXO

My first Week in LA!

I know I started the video blog a couple weeks ago but I felt like I would be
talking your ear off if I made a video and talked about settling here in LA,
so I thought a written blog  entry would be best. First and foremost,
I love it here!! I miss my boyfriend family and friends
so much but am so happy to have made this move.

Ever since I was a little kid, my dream was to move to Los Angeles
because I felt like if you wanted to succeed in fashion and entertainment,
it is where you can make your dreams come true. Well it is.. and every morning I
wake up here I feel like I have the world and all of these resources to make
it happen at the touch of my fingertips.

The second day I was here I had an interview for a great
internship and within days of landing in LA I began working there!
Any given day we are working with Hollywood's top stylists, lending them gowns
to dress Hollywood's top actresses and entertainers, who are going to
prestigious events like The Golden Globes or The Oscars..

I am lucky to have landed a great internship but am
even more excited to see what else I can accomplish. I know
that my hard work ethic, dedication and love for this industry
will take me as far as I want it to go..

As Conan O'Brien once said..
"If you have good manners and work hard,
amazing things will happen."

Here I go!
